Welcome,          Everyone who conferenced before vacation should have goals sheets.  Ask your child if you did not get one.                   Please ask your child to show you their planning sheet and their homework.  The definately have work every day.  If they tell you otherwise check with me.      I am also noticing many children having difficulty with a variety of math skills, since they do not know their multiplication and division facts.  Just a reminder that if this is one of the goals your child set for themselves please see that they are doing practice at home.      We need the items for the basket raffle.  Our class is doing a "Boy's Night" and a "Girl's Night " basket.  It will be interesting to see what they come up with.  Movies, snacks.  Games and activities.          February  book shares are due this week.  The children have an outline that they can follow that is pretty clear. These are due at the end of this week.      We continue our focused share on "How humans and the environment affect each other".  These can be from any newspaper, magazine or online source.        CMT's are coming up.  We are reviewing and talking about test taking strategies. Mrs. Morrone .   Name __________________________           Week of February 27, 2012 Reading -  A.  Article Share This month we are doing focused article shares.  We are looking for the effect of humans and the environment on each other. Make sure you are ready on your share day.  Have you added detail and specific examples to your response?       B.  Continue reading for your February book share.  These are due this week..  The written response for this book will follow the expository format you were given.       C.  Jr. Great Books- Each week we will read one story multiple times and work on       answering interpretive questions about these stories. This week we will read          “.Superstitions” 2.  Spelling/Vocabulary- Do one assignment each night.  Wordly Wise you will need to combine two of them.  Make sure these are done by Friday.  Don’t forget to take a practice test on Thursday.  Focus on improving the quality of your work. 3.  Math review-  We will spend some time reviewing skills for CMT.  Each day you will  have a different practice packet.                        b.  Super Speed Math Practice at least three times this week. 4. Research- Use your calendar to know what you are working on each week.  This week continue to read and take notes. You should continue working on visuals.  Make sure your visuals show important information from your notes.  We will pick presentation dates this week. 5.Social Studies-  This week we move on and begin our study of Ancient Egypt.                                 A,  Label the following places on the map of Egypt:  Lower Egypt,                                        Upper Egypt, Giza, Thebes, Aswan.  Also the places listed on the                                     map.
