Basketball Program
Grades: 4-8
IDCS Basketball is a seasonal, non-league athletic program that emphasizes teamwork, skill development, commitment, and sportsmanship. The program is open to students in grades 4-8 and includes opportunities for competitive play, school-hosted events, and community engagement throughout the season.
Program Schedule
Basketball typically runs during the winter season.
Practices are generally held multiple days per week after school at IDCS. Practice days, times, and season-specific details are posted annually on the Sports Calendar and communicated to families via ParentSquare.
Practices are not held on half days, holidays, snow days, or days when school is closed.
Tryouts & Team Placement
Basketball is a tryout-based program. Students must attend tryouts to be considered for team placement.
To be eligible to try out, students must:

Be enrolled in grades 4-8

Have an up-to-date Sports Physical on file

Have a zero balance in ProCare
-
Have all required athletic forms submitted prior to tryouts
Tryout dates, times, and additional details are shared with families in advance via ParentSquare.
Registration & Fees

Program fees apply only to students who are selected for a team

Enrollment is limited

A completed registration form and payment are required to confirm participation

Program fees are processed through ProCare
-
Scholarships may be available based on financial need (one sport per school year)
Practice & Participation Expectations
Attendance at practices and games is mandatory. Student-athletes are expected to demonstrate commitment to the team and communicate absences directly with their coach. Excused absences are at the discretion of the coach.
Students are expected to:

Arrive on time and prepared for all practices and games

Maintain academic responsibility

Follow all team and school expectations

Be picked up promptly after practices and games
Games & Transportation
Game schedules are posted on the Sports Calendar once finalized.

Transportation may be provided to local weekday games

Parents/guardians are responsible for prompt pick-up at the conclusion of all games and practices
Uniforms
Basketball uniforms are required. Uniform details, costs, and distribution information are provided once teams are finalized. Limited uniforms may be available for borrowing on a first come, first served basis.

Sports Physical Form (completed annually)
If these forms have already been completed for another sport during the current school year, they do not need to be resubmitted.
Late Pick-Up Policy
Students must be picked up promptly at the scheduled end time. Late pick-up may result in additional charges. Repeated late pick-ups or ongoing behavioral concerns may result in removal from the program without refund.
Behavior Expectations
Student-athletes are expected to:

Remain with their coach during all practices and games

Demonstrate respect toward teammates, coaches, officials, and opponents

Follow all safety and conduct expectations

Represent IDCS positively on and off the court
Failure to meet behavioral expectations may result in dismissal from the program without refund.
Weather & Cancellations
Schedule changes, cancellations, or weather-related updates will be communicated via ParentSquare.
