Student e-mails have been activated!

In order to facilitate communication between students and their teachers, we have activated the student e-mail accounts.  Students can access their e-mail by clicking on the apps toolbar, they will now see the e-mail icon.

Please note that students can only send and receive e-mails to IDCS staff.  They can not send/receive outside the idcs.org domain or to other students within the idcs.org domain.  Please log into your account and send your teacher a quick "hi" so we know you can access this new feature.

School Closure

There is a packet available for all students to pick up at school.  In this packet you will find supporting materials for all their coursework.  If research notebooks or science notebooks were left at school, they can be picked up on Monday with the physical packet.

Please find the cover sheet outlining middle school work expectations here.

Google Classroom will be utilized for several classes.  All students have used it for Language Arts and Social Studies.  It will also be used for Science.  Science access links are below:

Science A - smmlnlo

Science B - 6enfav6

Science C - yof5xky

Science D - pdllrnc

If parents or students have questions, you are encouraged to e-mail any of your middle school teachers.  We will be checking our e-mail periodically and will do our best to help you through these trying times.

8th Grade Parents: NFA Registration

Hi Everybody

Hopefully your child has already let you know this, but in case they haven't, Jessica St George from NFA came in on Friday to go over the registration process.  Each student was given a booklet, a registration form, a flyer about an information session for parents, and a sheet going over the process of how to fill out the registration paper.

Highlights:
- Please check the front of the paper to ensure all information is correct.  If any changes are needed, simply cross them out and write in the correct information.

- On the front is also the place where they listed their top 3 high school choices.  If NFA is number 1, they did not need to write anything else.

- At the bottom of the page is also the spot for you to sign.  I cannot accept the form without your signature.

- On the back, students should have already listed a foreign language as their number one choice with an 'A' listed next to their next foreign language choice.

- They are to choose their next 4 choices in order.  They can choose from any category and will list them as 2 - 5.

- NFA is doing PE differently this year, so they do NOT need to fill in the PE section at all unless they are opting for an extra PE class.  (They made choices up the top of the paper for their PE class.)

- My very strong recommendation is that every one fills out this form even if your child has already been accepted to their top choice high school.  Things can change in the next 8 months.  If things do not change, NFA will do nothing with this form, but if they do, you simply need to call them and they will put your child into the classes they chose.

Dates:
- January 28 from 6:00 - 7:30 NFA is holding an information session.  Register at
 - Registration forms are due back to school on January 30 (or any time before that).

Please email with any questions.

If you are choosing not to fill out the form, please email Mary Osten to let her know.

Research Updates

Research Presentations are just a few weeks away.  You should have 90% of your facts represented in visuals by the end of Thanksgiving Break.  Things to note:
  • After School Research Workshops will be held on Monday 12/2 and Wednesday 12/4
  • Peer Review will be on 12/4 - please make sure all of your visuals are completed and brought to school on that date.  You should also have your trifold board by that date
  • Research Presentations will be the week of 12/9-12/13, typically between 8:15 and 9:30.  Parents are welcome and encouraged to observe their child's research presentation.  If you would like to come, please contact your child's teacher.
