Instrumental Music

We can't wait to get started learning new and exciting music for all new and returning instrumental students!  The program runs the whole school year so we have lots of time to enjoy making music together!

IDCS offers lessons in strings (GRADES K-8), flute, clarinet, trumpet, saxophone and drums (GRADES 4-8) and Piano (GRADES 1-8).  Each student will have a lesson once a week during the school year, either individually or in small groups.  We will have a lot of fun learning to read and play music together.  We will also have opportunities to perform throughout the school year.

Learning an instrument takes commitment for the whole year.  You will need to practice daily and come prepared for your lessons each week.  You will need to provide your own instrument - most families rent them.

**STRING STUDENTS (Violin or Cello) Please do not rent an instrument until after your first lesson, when a notice about size and supplies will be sent home.  There is a fee of $10.00 per week for all string lessons.  Information about payments and when each of the 3 installments are due will be sent home after the first lesson as well.

**Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet,  Saxophone and drum STUDENTS Drum students will need to purchase drumsticks and a practice pad.  All woodwind, brass and percussion students will need to purchase a Rubank Elementary method book.

**PIANO STUDENTS Piano students will need a piano or keyboard to practice on.  Small keyboards will work for young/beginning students with the understanding that a full size keyboard with pedal will be needed as the student progresses.  There is a fee for piano lessons. Lessons this year will be held after school and will be offered in person or virtually. A notice will be sent home at the first lesson explaining fees and payment schedule.
