IDCS Weekly News ~ January 31, 2020

IDCS Invitational Boys and Girls Basketball Tournament: Eight teams will play in the Second Annual Tournament at IDCS. There are 4 games Friday, starting with the IDCS girls at 4:00, then the IDCS boys at 5:15. Four additional games will be played on Saturday.  Please attend the game and support our teams!

Internet Safety: Monday, February 3 Grade 6 (at 9:30 a.m.), 7/8 (at 8:30 a.m.): The Connecticut State Police is proud to offer a 45 minute lesson on social media safety for middle school students.  The presentation will discuss some of the risks and consequences of negative social media use, the legal definition and consequences of sexting, and ways that students can be safe on their phones.  Parents of students in grades 6, 7, 8 are invited to attend this presentation.

Fire Drill: A fire drill was held on Thursday, January 30.  Everyone did a good job; students and staff were out of the building in 2 minutes and 45 seconds.

IDCS Foundation Billy Wilson's Fundraiser:  The Foundation raised $1523.50.  Thank you to everyone who supported this fundraiser!

Miracle Field: Spirit Day was dedicated to raising money for the Miracle Field in East Lyme. The field will be accessible to all students.  We will let you know how much IDCS raised next week.  Thanks to Mrs. Dearborn and Mrs. Allard’s classes for spearheading the event.

Student Council: Student Council will be collecting items and food for Animal Shelter.  The dates are February 10 to February 14.

Lost & Found: Bins are located near the former main entrance area. Periodically, pictures of lost and found items will be posted in the newsletter. At the end of every term, the clothes will be donated.
