NEW STAFF BIO: Mary Ellen Sullivan, School Social Worker

Name: MaryEllen Sullivan

Position: School Social Worker

Number of Years @ IDCS: Started in mid-September of this year

What is the most inspiring part of your job?

I am always amazed at how resilient, open, and honest children can be. My goal is that I can give them a space to be heard, respected, and feel safe and hopeful for their future in addition to the tools needed to address their particular needs.

Family, Pets, Home:  Originally from New Haven, I live in Hopkinton, RI with my husband John. We have 3 adult children and 2 grandchildren who all live in RI and nearby CT.

Hobbies, Skills, Talents OR what do you like to do when you are not working? I love to read, walk, go to concerts and the theater. Spending time with family and friends is what I love most.

If time travel and long distance space travel were possible and all fictional worlds were real.  What place and/or time would you visit and what would you do while you were there?

I would go back a few years to pre-pandemic times and enjoy everyday life, interacting with others without the fear of covid.

What is something you want to learn more?

I would like to learn more about classical music and would love to take art lessons.

If you had to eat only one food for the rest of your life what would it be?

I could not pick just one; however, a cup of hot tea and a good book are necessities!
