IDCS, in partnership with its students, staff, families, and community; provides a safe, flexible, and academically challenging learning environment that meets the unique academic, social, emotional, and physical needs of each child. Reports to: Coordinator of Special Education

Develop, provide, and evaluate specialized instruction and educational services
Deliver services in both pull-out and inclusion settings, to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities
Work collaboratively with special education team and classroom educators to identify teaching interventions which match to student learning needs
Design comprehensive and individualized assessments to monitor progress
Develop, review, and revise IEPs
Administer, score, analyze, and interpret results of individualized educational assessments
Prepare written reports of assessments including recommendations and present at PPT meetings
Manage a caseload of students
Communicate pertinent information about teaching and learning for individual students to other teachers and service providers.
Maintain communication with parents and colleagues as needed to support students
Assist in the design and implementation of behavior management plans
Provide direct instruction to students as outlined by the Individual Education Plans.
Provide collaborative instruction within regular classroom
Ensure that appropriate data is collected to support implementation of the IEP
Provide ongoing direction and information about students on the caseload to paraprofessionals

Valid Connecticut certified in Special Education (065) or (165) or DSAP.
