Research

Starting in Pre-K all students at IDCS complete Research Projects 2-4 times per year.  Topics are chosen by the student, sometimes under an umbrella topic.  Research projects vary from simple animal investigations in the lower grades to more in depth and sometimes controversial topics in the upper grades.  Students must gather together their information using a variety of different facets, such as language arts, math, science, social students and the arts.  Once the student has completed their research project, they will share it with their teacher and class by way of a presentation.  Parents are encouraged to attend the presentation!  Students in grades 7 and 8 do a larger presentation on Research Night which usually takes place in the Spring.  Research Night is open to the school community.
