Teacher/Student Empowerment
Teachers and students have many avenues through which to contribute ideas at IDCS.
Teachers are members of the Governing Board, Board sub-committees, Keepers, IDEA, and the IDCS Foundation as well as the Curriculum, Climate, Safety, and Technology Committees. Teachers together with other staff members, and administration have the opportunity to collaboratively problem solve and brainstorm on a regular basis.
Students in grades K-8 take part in Student Council. Each classroom has two representatives. The students take any concerns or ideas from their classrooms to the weekly Student Council meeting where they have the opportunity to discuss amongst each other any ideas or concerns that they're classmates have brought up. Students also take part in several schoolwide surveys throughout the school year.
